Wellington College Belfast Co-educational Grammar School
Scripture Union
Each week up to 100 pupils meet in two SU groups at lunchtime to help encourage each other in their spiritual growth and to learn more about how God wants them to live for Him.
The seniors meet on Mondays in the Lecture Theatre. Over the year a number of speakers have come into the College to address the seniors. This year the theme has focused on how young Christians can live out their faith in such a way that their friends take seriously the spiritual dimension of their lives. One particular aspect of this has been to address the question of how to live a godly life in a school setting? The students have found this to be particularly challenging and rewarding. Each week in their own time the students also meet for prayer and bible study. The juniors meet every Wednesday. During the year a local church group has taken a number of the lunchtime sessions and has encouraged the young people to take their stand for Jesus.
One of the highlights of the year is the Scripture Union Weekend which takes place in January at Castlewellan Castle. The College has been going to the Castle for over ten years now as it provides an excellent setting for a group of young people to meet together and enjoy God together.
The young people of Wellington take seriously the demands of Jesus upon their lives to shine like stars in a needy and hurting world.
