The Annual ‘A' Level History trip to Dublin

Wellington College students and staff on their annual trip to visit the sites of the Easter Rising as part of their study for the A2 Module on the Partition of Ireland

Paper 1           Study in Depth:         2 hours (50%)

Paper One: Section A (25%)

Germany 1918- 1941

This includes sections on:

1.      The Weimar Republic

2.      Nazi Germany

3.      Nazi policy towards Europe

Paper One: Section B (25%)

Peace, War and Neutrality: Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland and the Second World War 1932 - 1949.

This includes sections on:

1.      Anglo-Irish relationships before World War II

2.      Experience of and response to World War II

3.      Post-war relationships

 Paper 2           Outline Study:           1 ¼  hours (30%) 

The Cold War and its resolution, 1945 - 1991.

GCSE History Coursework      (20%)

The coursework topic at GCSE History is ‘The Final Solution' which deals with the Nazi persecution and genocide of the Jewish community during the 1930's and 1940's. It is worth 20% of the overall examination marks.

1 hour 30 minute examination (This module will be 50% of AS/25% of A Level.  It will be partly assessed using sources)

AS2     Russia 1903 - 1941

1 hour 30 minute examination (This module will be 50% of AS/25% of A Level) 

A2 History

A2 1          The Clash of Ideologies - 1900 - 2000

1 hour 15 minute examination (This module will be 30% of A Level)

A2 2          The Partition of Ireland 1900 - 1925

2 hour examination (This module will be 20% of A Level.  It will be partly assessed using sources)

Government and Politics                             

AS 1:         The Government and Politics of Northern Ireland

40% of AS / 20% of A2 1 hour 15 minute examination [x 1 source and 3 questions]

AS 2:         The British Political Process

60% of AS / 30% of A2 1 hour 45 minute examination [x 5 questions]

There are two A2 Government and Politics modules:

A2 1:         Comparative Government

60% of A2 / 30% of the A-Level 2 hours 15 minute examination [x 1 source and 5 questions]

A2 2:         Political Power & Political Ideas 

40% of AS / 20% of the A-Level 1 hour 30 minute examination [x 1 source and 3 questions]
